A total of 147 Nigerian nationals who voluntarily returned from Agadez, Niger Republic, have been received by the National Emergency Management Agency in Kano.
The returnees, comprising 143 adult males, one male child, one adult female, and two female children, arrived at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport at 12:48 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The return exercise was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration in collaboration with key partners involved in migrant reintegration and support initiatives.
After landing in Kano, the returnees were moved to Badala Hotel for profiling and documentation, which was carried out on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Speaking on the development, NEMA North-West Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Nuradeen Abdullahi, said the return was part of efforts to provide support for Nigerians stranded abroad who are willing to come back home.
“These individuals left the country in search of better opportunities but encountered challenges on their journey. This initiative ensures they return with dignity and receive proper support to reintegrate,” Dr. Abdullahi said.
He also confirmed that medical support was provided for one of the returnees who arrived ill. “The Red Cross was on ground to offer immediate medical attention to the affected individual,” he added.
