Winning Ballon d’Or is ultimate personal achievement – Dembele

Paris Saint-Germain winger, Ousmane Dembele, believes that, for any footballer, claiming the Ballon d’Or represents the highest personal achievement.

He, however, insisted he is not overly fixated on winning the Ballon d’Or, despite enjoying an exceptional season with the French champions.

The French international, who has been named among potential contenders for the prestigious award, made the remarks during an interview published on PSG’s official website.

Dembele played a key role in PSG’s dominant campaign, helping the club secure the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1 title, Coupe de France, and the French Super Cup.

“These are difficult things to say (aiming for the Ballon d’Or). But winning a Ballon d’Or, when you are a footballer, is obviously the ultimate on an individual level,” he admitted.

“It’s something you dream about as a child. I remember when they broadcast it on Téléfoot, when I saw the players receiving the Ballon d’Or, it was incredible. Just the object, the ball, is exceptional.”

The Champions League winner, known for his flair and creativity, emphasized his love for entertaining fans and contributing to the team’s success.

“Since I was little I wanted to bring joy to the people who come to the stadium. I like dribbling, but I’m also someone who helps the team a lot, who wants to score, who also scores.”

Dembele concluded on a philosophical note, acknowledging that individual recognition is ultimately subjective.

“Then, everyone thinks what they want and votes what they want. If you like Ousmane Dembélé, good. If you don’t like him, life goes on. We’ll see.”
