The Ogun State Water Corporation has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at modernizing its operations and enhancing service delivery, with implementation set to commence in the next quarter.

During a media briefing on Tuesday at the Corporation’s Oke Mosan headquarters in Abeokuta, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Water Resources, Damilola Otubanjo, highlighted several transformative steps.

Among them are the installation of Smart Meters and Sensors designed to promptly detect system faults and leakages.

This innovation will see a shift from flat-rate billing to a metered payment structure while strengthening the Corporation’s revenue collection framework.

Otubanjo emphasized the agency’s dedication to improving Ogun State’s business environment, noting that integrating smart technologies would minimize the reliance on manual processes.

“We are phasing out estimated billing and ensuring all new connections are on prepaid meters,” she said.

“This will help us build a more accurate customer database and significantly improve service delivery.

“With Smart Meters and Sensors, we can detect faults and leaks remotely, enabling quicker responses and minimizing water loss.”

She also noted that to improve revenue generation, the Corporation will roll out user-friendly digital payment platforms.

“Just as people recharge electricity from their homes, we want our customers to pay for water without needing any physical interaction with our staff,” she added.

“OGSWC would also launch a 24-hour Rapid Response Squad and introduce a toll-free customer service line to improve engagement, feedback, and transparency.”

Otubanjo affirmed that these innovations mirror the Ogun State government’s resolve to elevate living standards through sustainable water systems and digital governance.
