The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service has officially transferred custody of a wanted native doctor, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation into his alleged involvement in abduction and ritual activities.

This development was disclosed on Friday, May 30, 2025, by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, through a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja,” Hundeyin stated.

Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, was apprehended by immigration officers on May 29, 2025, at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to escape the country on a motorcycle.

According to the NIS, the arrest was the result of credible intelligence linking him to the abduction and suspected ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu community, Enugu State.

A statement from the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, quoting the Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, confirmed that Obieze is being sought by the Enugu State Police Command for alleged involvement in the incident.

“The suspect is a male individual wanted by the Nigeria Police Enugu State Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing,” the statement said.

Obieze, who hails from Umuajor village in Enugu State, was reportedly among a group of three men who abducted the young girl on May 27, 2025, while she was on her way to the farm with her father. She was later rescued from a shrine allegedly connected to the suspect.

Authorities confirmed Obieze’s identity using an enrollment slip from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) found on him. He is also said to have admitted to the crimes during preliminary interrogation.

The case has since been handed over to the Lagos Police Command for continuation of investigation and possible prosecution.
