Ligue 1: PSG end season with comeback win over Auxerre

Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up their Ligue 1 campaign in style, coming from behind to claim a 3-1 victory over AJ Auxerre at the Parc des Princes.

The win marked their third consecutive triumph in all competitions, adding further momentum as they continue their pursuit of a historic treble under Luis Enrique.

Having clinched a record-extending 13th French top-flight title six weeks earlier with a narrow 1-0 win over Angers, PSG approached this final league fixture with intensity, despite their title already being secured.

Enrique fielded a strong starting XI, eager to maintain their winning rhythm ahead of the Coupe de France and UEFA Champions League finals.

The Parisians wasted little time asserting their dominance. Marquinhos rose to meet Nuno Mendes’ corner but sent his header over, while Ousmane Dembélé forced an early save from goalkeeper Donovan Leon.

In the opening 20 minutes, PSG thought they had a shout for a penalty when Dembélé collided with Clément Akpa inside the box.

However, after a VAR review, no foul was given.

Auxerre, comfortably placed in mid-table, stunned the home side in the 31st minute. Lassine Sinayoko capitalized on a simple defensive lapse, receiving a well-placed through ball from Gaëtan Perrin and beating Willian Pacho before calmly slotting the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The goal drew a frustrated reaction from Enrique on the touchline.

PSG came close to equalizing before the break, with Mendes striking the post from a curling free-kick, but they headed into halftime trailing.

After the interval, it was one-way traffic as the champions turned up the heat. Dembélé remained the central threat, forcing another save from Leon and later blasting a chance over the bar after being set up by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Georgian forward eventually got the breakthrough PSG needed, firing a precise right-footed shot from the edge of the area that beat Leon and brought the hosts level just before the hour mark.

Marquinhos then completed the comeback eight minutes later. Rising to meet another corner from Mendes, the captain’s header struck the woodwork and bounced in, securing the win and finishing PSG’s league season on a high.
