Nigeria has officially secured hosting rights for the WAFU B U-17 Championship, scheduled to take place in September 2025.

This confirmation came from President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, during his courtesy visit to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

The prestigious youth football tournament will unfold across two state-of-the-art venues in Ogun State, the newly refurbished MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta and the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Both facilities have been upgraded to meet the standards required for staging international fixtures.

Competing teams for the regional showdown include Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Togo, Benin, and Ghana, who will join host nation Nigeria in battling for supremacy.

Beyond the silverware, the championship carries greater significance as it doubles as the qualifying tournament for the 2025 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, marking it as a pivotal event in Africa’s youth football calendar.
