Niger Delta activist, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, has raised concerns over the whereabouts of suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following his removal from office by President Bola Tinubu.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, President Tinubu, in a national broadcast, announced the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu, and the Rivers State House of Assembly over the escalating political crisis in the state. Following this declaration, the suspended governor, along with his family and security details, vacated the Rivers Government House.
However, speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Sara-Igbe claimed that Fubara has not been seen or heard from since his suspension.
Expressing his concerns, Sara-Igbe stated that Rivers leaders have been trying to reach Fubara but have been unsuccessful.
“We have not seen Fubara, and nobody has communicated with Fubara. We don’t know what they have done to Fubara; we don’t know where Fubara is. So, Fubara’s life is in danger; we have tried to reach him, but we cannot reach him. All Nigerians need to know that Fubara’s life is in danger. Until we see Fubara speak face-to-face or on television, we have not seen him.
“We have not heard from him. With all sincerity, ask anybody whether they have heard from him. He was locked up in the government house, we only see him on social media, he has been released from the government house, to where? We don’t know. Rivers people are worried; this is a war against Rivers State, not a war against Fubara,” he said.
Sara-Igbe also called on Nigerians to rise against what he described as the “illegal suspension” of the Rivers governor.
“If Nigerians keep quiet and allow this to happen, it will happen in other places,” he warned.
