Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has revealed that his administration will allocate over N3.4 billion annually to fund the state’s newly established safety guards.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the first batch of the guards, with the governor emphasizing that the primary purpose of the initiative is to protect government facilities such as schools, hospitals, and courts, among others.

Namadi explained that the initiative would create jobs by ensuring the employment of at least 9,974 private security guards, who will be absorbed by the government to enhance security across the state.

He further stated that the programme, which is part of the Safe School initiative, underscores his commitment to safeguarding critical facilities throughout Jigawa.

“The entire process is a local initiative, designed to ensure that the security of our institutions remains in the hands of Jigawa’s people,” Namadi said, stressing the homegrown nature of the project.

The governor also emphasized that the initiative is part of his administration’s broader strategy to empower the youth of the state.

“Out of millions of youths, 9,974 of you have been selected for this important task,” he added, underscoring the importance of the program in providing opportunities for young people in Jigawa.
