The Founder and Leader of INRI Spiritual Evangelical Church in Lagos, Primate Ayodele, has expressed concerns over the proposed new tax regime under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, suggesting that it is likely to end in corruption.

Speaking at his church’s headquarters in Ejigbo, Lagos, on Friday, Ayodele acknowledged that the tax system was designed with good intentions, aimed at benefiting Nigeria.

However, he raised serious doubts about its long-term effectiveness, warning that mismanagement and corruption could undermine the system’s potential, according to Independent.

While recognizing the development as a positive step for the country, Ayodele emphasized that the success of the tax regime would depend largely on how it is managed.

He expressed fears that, without proper oversight, the initiative could eventually harm the very people it aims to support, particularly the poor.

Despite the optimistic beginning that the tax system might have, Ayodele predicted that it would ultimately fail to achieve sustainable success, as he foresees corruption contaminating its intended benefits.

Ayodele said, “It is a good thing but the fact is that it can affect the poor people and also it is a good development.

“But it is about mismanagement of it, if it is properly managed, that will be very fantastic, at least it will better the country.

“But I am afraid of the negativity of it and sustainability, because the agenda will not be too fine because I see it covered with corruption.

“So it is a good development, it will start on a very good note but looking at it, it would not bear fruit at the end of the day,” Primate Ayodele said with prophetic finality.”
