The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Reverend Paul Emeka, has called on Nigerian leaders to prioritize effective transmission of leadership, emphasizing that it is wrong to cling to power.

He made these remarks during the election of new executives at the Abuja Central District.

Reverend Emeka expressed his disappointment with the current state of leadership in the country, describing it as unfortunate. He criticized leaders for focusing on future elections rather than on mentoring the younger generation and ensuring a smooth transition to the most qualified successors.

While congratulating the newly elected leaders, Reverend Emeka highlighted the importance of power transmission in fostering success in leadership roles. He urged leaders to be selfless and to work for the benefit of the general public rather than a privileged few.

He stated, “Handover or transmission is not a one day’s job, that is why planning is necessary. We also know that poor transmission leads to poor leadership.”

He further elaborated, “You have to be ready to transmit your legacy, values to the generation coming after you. To transmit means; preparing the people for the future and passing on what you have to the next generation. The promises of God to us are massive, but we have to connect to them by ourselves.”

The election concluded with the appointment of Rev. Dr. Emeka Eze as the Abuja Central District Superintendent, Rev. Emanuel Omole as Assistant District Superintendent, Rev. Abraham Odey as District Secretary, Rev. Femi Omole as District Treasurer, and Rev. Theophilus Ikechukwu as a member.
