Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday refused to shake hands with his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, at the swearing-in ceremony of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri and Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo respectively.
The Bayelsa gov and deputy were sworn-in for a second term on Wednesday.
The event was held at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The embarrassing scene was captured in an 11 seconds online clip, showing where Shaibu was shaking hands with dignitaries at the event and when he got to his principal, he (Obaseki) waved his hands signalling a refusal to shake him (Shaibu).
This action fuels the ongoing rift between the duo which began sometime in 2023 after Shaibu declared his intention to run for governorship in the 2024 poll.
