The Supreme Court on Thursday said non-transmission of results on Independent National Electoral Commission’s Results Viewing Portal did not affect the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

Premium Politics reports that All Progressives Congress presidential candidate won the 2023 presidential election defeating his Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party challengers, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively.

Reading the lead judgement on Thursday, Justice John Okoro, said the unavailability of the result on the IREV portal for whatever reason cannot be a ground for the election to be nullified.

has ruled that the failure of the INEC to transmit the election on IREV did not affect the outcome of the presidential election.

Reading the lead judgment, Okoro said, ”

“When IReV fails, it does not stop the collation of the results. It only deprives people of viewing results.

“The nonfunction will affect the trust of the electorates in the election. Unavailability of IReV cannot be a ground for the election to be nullified.

“The failure did not affect the outcome of the election. The issue is resolved against the appellants,” Okoro ruled.
