Fati Vázquez, 30-year-old influencer recently linked to Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal, has revealed she has been targeted with disturbing death threats following rumours of a romantic connection between them.
The speculation was sparked after both Vázquez and the 17-year-old footballer shared similar holiday photos on Instagram, leading many to believe they had spent the weekend together.
According to Mundo Deportivo, images posted by the pair, just days apart, appeared to show them enjoying the same location.
Yamal shared photos of himself relaxing on a boat with a rocky backdrop, while Vázquez later uploaded similar snaps from another angle, also on a boat with comparable scenery.
The footballer also posted a picture near an infinity pool featuring a tree and canopy in the background, a scene echoed in Vázquez’s post, though taken from a slightly different perspective.
The Galician-born social media star boasts nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram and more than 320,000 on TikTok.
After eagle-eyed followers began piecing together the similarities in their posts, rumours of a relationship quickly spread online.
However, fellow influencer Javi De Hoyos debunked the claims, asserting he had spoken directly with Yamal.
He stated there was “no relationship” between the two and that the trip involved several people, not just the pair.
Still, the online frenzy took a dark turn, prompting Vázquez, who is also a trained flight attendant, to speak out on social media against the abuse she’s endured.
“It’s sad to see people who have such darkness inside that they wish death on someone they don’t even know,” she wrote.
“What others project, speaks more about them than me.
“I choose to live with the purpose of continuing to grow and surrounding myself with light.
“To those who wish me ill, I wish them healing, because nobody who is well in themselves wishes the destruction of another.”
De Hoyos added further clarification in his own post, “Lamine would not have gone alone to this holiday place but with other Barça team-mates.
“Fati probably does have something with another Barça person or is a friend of another team-mate.”
While the speculation may have died down, Vázquez’s response has shed light on the real-world consequences of online gossip and assumptions.
