A 75-year-old Nigerian pilgrim, Adizatu Dazumi, from Edo State, has passed away during the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to The PUNCH, Dazumi, a native of Jattu Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area, reportedly died on Monday at King Fahad General Hospital in Makkah following a brief illness.
Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Musah Uduimoh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.
“She developed health complications shortly after performing the Tawaaf ritual in Makkah. She was taken to the hospital on Sunday and, sadly, she passed away the following day,” Uduimoh said.
He added that her burial was conducted in Makkah on the same day in accordance with Islamic rites. “Her family in Jattu Uzairue has been duly informed, and we extend our deepest condolences to them,” he said.
The chairman also reassured other pilgrims that the welfare board is committed to ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants throughout the Hajj exercise.
